Gateshead Design Studio’s Dreaming of a Green Christmas

PRESS RELEASE – 8th December 2011

Intimation Creative Christmas Window!

Stepping above the call of duty is commonplace for Intimation Creative when it comes to valued clients.

However to make use of waste cardboard which was causing concern at Durham Wildlife Trust’s headquarters to artistically create a festive window display masterpiece, is truly turning someone else’s junk into artistic gold….or should that be “GREEN”?

Andy Smith, Director at Intimation Creative Ltd and Manager of Intimation’s Gateshead studio, along with his design team had a genius idea when confronted with the dilemma presented to them by Durham Wildlife Trusts Director Jim Cokill. Deciding to put the Trust’s waste cardboard and donations of the paper variety from other clients, including Kinesio Taping UK and the Quorum Business Park, to seasonal good use to transform their empty studio window in Gateshead’s aptly named “creative quarter”, into a green theme festive scene, recreating popular local landmarks, as their Christmas window offering.

“When Jim first mentioned he had an overflow of cardboard which the Trust needed to recycle we were intrigued as to what creative solution we could come up with to solve the situation over the festive period. Our creative team have worked hard to really design and create something out of nothing! It’s been a great experience with all our clients getting involved and it’s fantastic to see everyone pull together and see the finished display.” Andy Smith (Intimation Creative)

Kevin Anderson, Managing Director, Kinesio UK says: “We’re full of amazement that such a beautiful and innovative Christmas display can be made from waste materials. But then Andy and his team are always very creative with Kinesio UK artwork so it’s to be expected.  It really is a lovely sight and well worth a visit. We liked using the QR codes and spotting all the landmarks.”

The display, which is now complete and drawing a lot of attention, additionally makes clever use of QR codes, which, when scanned with passing smart phones, directs the user to various pieces of donating clients’ design work, completed by Intimation Creative Ltd.

A stunning piece of promotion, a work of art and a recycling heaven, all within a reclaimed railway arch.

Whilst children flock to view Fenwick’s celebrated annual animated Christmas window, those techno wizards and environmentally aware amongst us, should assemble at arch number 14; making supreme use of old cardboard and some sticky back plastic.

To see the display, please go to Arch 14, High Level Parade, Wellington Street, Gateshead, NE8 2AJ
