Citizenship Academy Goes Live.
Intimation are proud to announce the launch of The Leonard Cheshire Citizenship Academy website.
Funded by the Electoral Commission, this is a modular training course which will equip disabled people in Scotland with the skills to become active citizens.
The first participants will be recruited in April, with the aim to train 30 people over three years. These trainees will then be able to take the lead in their communities, to help other disabled people to gain equal rights. Stephen Neale, Scottish Regional Director, said: “We are so pleased to be supported by the Electoral Commission to deliver this exciting project, which will empower disabled people to be active in their communities.”
The Citizenship Academy designed to empower disabled people to voice their needs and aspirations, launched on Wednesday 21st March with a photo opportunity outside the Scottish Parliament so that MSP’s could lend their support for this initiative. Rhona Brankin, the Communities Minister attended the launch to personally voice her support for the Academy. In other news the recruitment of board members is nearing its completion and we are on course to hold the first full board meeting in Mid April.
